Prime real-estate at Four-Corners

A new school supply is becoming essential in many classrooms and offices at Blair. It often sits on the floor under desks and near crevices, but some are found higher up in cabinets or by sinks. They come mainly in the form of a wooden rectangle, with a spring loaded wire and a tasty treat placed just in the right position. In some cases, they’re activated and the treat is gone, replaced by a once-hungry critter who was hoping to get a bite to eat.

African American Read-In held at Blair

African American Read-In partnered with African American studies classes and hosted an event in the Media Center on Thursday. The Read-In featured student-designed exhibits, African American literature and a lecture by Dr. Daryl Howard, a recently published author and counselor at Blair.

Blair holds National African-American Read-In

On Feb. 24, Blair hosted its second National African-American Read-In in honor of Black History Month. The event, created by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), is meant to honor and celebrate African American literature.

Muslim Student Association revived after a three-year hiatus

After three years of scattered activity, the Muslim Student Association (MSA) has been made an official club at Blair with librarian Andrea Lamphier as teacher sponsor.

Blair opens Chrome accounts for all students and staff

Montgomery Blair's media center created Chromebook accounts at the start of the school year for the school's staff and students. The accounts function as online workspaces for teachers and students through novel file sharing capabilities.

It's not too late for spring cleaning

Reuse and recycling initiatives are more of what Blair needs to make the school greener and more resource efficient. To contribute, specialist Andrea Lamphier has begun a series of improvement projects Wednesday for the school’s media center.

Tech Tuesdays

As of this school year, at least once a month, teachers gather in the back rooms of the media center for Tech Tuesdays, a program media center officials offer as a means by which Blair teachers can learn more about useful programs such as Turnitin.com , Prezi and new technologies such as Web 2.0.

"We run the place"

They connect computers, manage students and create web tools for teachers. They order books, introduce reading programs and fix printer problems. They work with you, one on one, to find the perfect research database. This is the Blair Media Center.

Assistant principal plans for AP scores improvement

Assistant Principal Alicia Deeny is working with the Principal and AP teachers to create an AP Professional Learning Community at Blair.
