Recap of Blair's spring sports playoffs

Unlike last year, this spring season brought mostly lackluster playoffs to center stage. The season certainly didn't end the way any Blazer athlete would have liked. Baseball and boys' and girls' lacrosse did not make it as far as they did last season, while softball was the only team that made it to exactly where they were last year but faltered once again, yielding zero state championships this season. Let's now take a look at how each team fared in its respective bracket.

Blair boys lacrosse beats Springbrook in sudden death overtime

The Blair Blazers (5-6) beat the Springbrook Blue Devils (5-6) 10-9 with nine seconds left in the first overtime period on senior night Tuesday. The first half of the game was played on Monday and a rain delay caused it to be postponed until Tuesday.

Colonels triumph over Blazers

Despite a strong start and consistent efforts throughout the game, the Blair boys' lacrosse team (0-5) was not able to fight off Magruder (2-4). The Blazers led early on, but as the game continued, they had no answer to the Colonels' continued offense, and lost 12-10.

Blazers wilt against Warriors

The boys’ lacrosse team (8-7) entered the third round of playoffs on Monday evening against the Sherwood Warriors (10-4). Struggling to hold the Warriors at bay while maintaining possession, the Blazers ultimately fell by a final score of Blair 7, Sherwood 20.

Blazers crush Cavaliers

The Blair boys' varsity lacrosse team (7-6) entered their first playoff game Wednesday afternoon at home against Kennedy. After beating the Cavaliers 10-1 when the teams met during the regular season, the Blazers came out looking strong and confident. They ended up winning by 17 goals, and kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Blazers destroy Knights

On a hot Saturday afternoon, the Blair boys' lacrosse team met the Wheaton Knights on the field of battle for the first time. In front of a cheering crowd, Blair got off to a strong start and kept the momentum for the rest of the game. By the end of the match, the final score was Blair 17, Wheaton 4. The game, apart from being the last regular season game, was also Blair's senior night.

Blazers get conquered by the Wildcats

With parents and fans watching in the stands, the Blair boy's lacrosse team (5-5) met the Walter Johnson Wildcats at home for the first time this season. Despite coming out strong, the game slipped away from the Blazers until it finally ended with a score of Walter Johnson 16, Blair 5.

Boys' lacrosse dazzles in playoff opener

The Blair boys' varsity lacrosse team (8-5) scored early and often as they defeated the Kennedy Cavaliers (0-13) by a final score of 19-2.

Boys' lacrosse crushes Wheaton on Senior Day

On a beautiful afternoon, several parents were in the stands to support the Blair boys' lacrosse team (7-5) and especially its seniors as they soundly defeated the Wheaton Knights (0-10).

Boys' lacrosse holds back strong Kennedy offense

The Blazers (4-4) beat the Kennedy Cavaliers (1-7) handedly on their Senior Night, 9-2.
