Behind-the-scenes of Blair’s Homecoming

Homecoming week is very important around Blair. The majority of the student body takes part in the week’s festivities, but the work starts months earlier for the people who put it all together. Making sure that the football game, spirit week, pep rally and dance run smoothly is a joint effort by the Student Government Association (SGA) and by a select group of dedicated students and staff.

Girls' Volleyball dominates Einstein

The Blair girls' varsity volleyball team (8-2) was able to outplay the Einstein Titans (1-9) on Thursday in only three sets. The match featured a quick offense from the Blazers as they varied up their plays and made use of their second-string players. The scores for the sets were: 25-13, 25-11 and 25-12

Girls' volleyball defeats Paint branch

The Blair girls' varsity volleyball team (5-0) was able to subdue the Paint Branch Panthers (2-2) on Wednesday night. The Panthers proved tough with strong blocks coupled with aggressive strikes, but the Blazers kept their cool and were able to ultimately outplay their opponent by the score of 25-17, 18-25, 25-9, 25-20.

Girls' Volleyball crushes Clarksburg

The Blair Blazers (4-0) were able to soundly defeat the Clarksburg Coyotes (1-2) on Monday night. Blair pulled together a strong defense and kept pounding Clarksburg with fast spikes and consistent serves, resulting in 3 sets for the Blazers and a quick match; the scores for the sets were 25-12, 25-16, and 25-16.

Girls' volleyball suffers tough loss to Whitman

The Whitman Vikings (7-4-1) narrowly beat the Blair Blazers (6-6), 17-25, 21-25 and 17-25. For Blair, this was senior night, the last home game of the season, making the game more animated and exciting. Although Blazers lost, their amplified spirit and excellent teamwork helped them to play an excellent game.

New advisor for Student Government Association

Already a 10th grade English teacher, 11th grade Advanced Placement English Language and Composition teacher and girls' varsity volleyball coach, Klein, can add another thing to his list of things he does at Blair: Student Government Association (SGA) advisor

Homecoming dance moved to the gym

This year, instead of being hosted in the student activities center (SAC), Blair's homecoming will be held in the gym. The Student Government association (SGA) made this change because of safety reasons and an increase in space and possibilities offered by the new venue.

Clubs required to renew charters due to liability concerns

Blair administration called for all clubs to renew their charters before the activity fair on October 24 in order to remain active because of liability concerns.

Blazer Volleyball tops Rams

In their second match of the season, the girls’ volleyball team (1-1) won against the Rockville Rams (0-2).
