Recap of Blair's spring sports playoffs

Unlike last year, this spring season brought mostly lackluster playoffs to center stage. The season certainly didn't end the way any Blazer athlete would have liked. Baseball and boys' and girls' lacrosse did not make it as far as they did last season, while softball was the only team that made it to exactly where they were last year but faltered once again, yielding zero state championships this season. Let's now take a look at how each team fared in its respective bracket.

Blair Sports Go Roaring Into the Playoffs

The regular season has ended and the animal of the playoffs has came. There are high hopes for many of the Blair teams with high expectations. Baseball, softball and lacrosse are all looking to get deep into the playoffs for the second straight year after a year in which all four teams got to the Regional finals.

Boys' basketball wins first round playoff game

The Montgomery Blair Blazers (13-9), the four seed in the playoffs, beat the five seed Bethesda Chevy-Chase Barons (10-14) by a score of 48-43 on Friday evening to advance to the regional quarterfinals against Richard Montgomery. The Blazers were able to remain calm under pressure and eke out a good win.

NFL Playoff Predictions

Congratulations to Ellie for winning the SCO NFL predictions this season! This season was full of unexpected surprises like the Cardinals and the Panthers, as well as more pleasant surprises like the Dolphins and Raiders, who have made it back to the playoffs. Now we're moving on to our playoff predictions.

NFL Week 15 Predictions

The NFL season is winding down, which means the playoff races are ramping up. The Seahawks became the second team to punch their ticket after a Thursday night win, following in the footsteps of their NFC counterparts the Cowboys.

Blairís football season ends in disappointment

Heading into Friday nightís game against the Quince Orchard Cougars (10-1), the Blair Blazers (8-3) were eager to pick up their first playoff win in school history. However, they will have to wait until next year after being eliminated by the Cougars, 35-7.

Blair loses tough first round matchup at Quince Orchard 48-17

Despite mounting a two score comeback in the third quarter, the deficit faced by the Montgomery Blair Blazers was too steep in a 48-17 loss in the first round of the playoffs to the Quince Orchard (QO) Cougars on a windy Friday night.

Boy's soccer falls to Meade in state semifinal

The Blair Blazers (15-2) lost to the Meade Mustangs (16-1) 3-1 in penalty kicks Saturday night. After regulation and two overtime periods the score was 0-0 in a game dominated by two tough defensive units. The loss knocked the Blazers out of the playoffs.

Blair boys' soccer wins division championship

The Blair Blazers (15-1) beat the Wootton Patriots (10-4) 3-1 Tuesday in the regional championship game. The Blazers took a commanding three goal lead early in the game, and Wootton scored a late goal in a bid to get back into the game. With this victory, Blair advances to the state semifinals.

Blair boys' soccer advances in playoffs

The Blair Blazers (15-1) beat the Walter Johnson Wildcats (13-3) 1-0 in the third round of playoffs to advance to the next round. The game was close throughout, with both teams playing strong defense up until a second half goal by junior defender Rolf Ngana.
