Blazer girls' soccer takes win over Springbrook

The Blair girls' varsity soccer team (2-0) took the win on Thursday afternoon at home against Springbrook (1-1). Though not a big lead, the Blazers topped the Blue Devils 2-0.

Blair boys lacrosse beats Springbrook in sudden death overtime

The Blair Blazers (5-6) beat the Springbrook Blue Devils (5-6) 10-9 with nine seconds left in the first overtime period on senior night Tuesday. The first half of the game was played on Monday and a rain delay caused it to be postponed until Tuesday.

The Blair boys’ varsity basketball team (5-2) beat the Springbrook Blue Devils (5-2) for the first time in a decade, 40-39, as senior guard Trey Wainwright sank two free throws with 3.1 seconds left in the game.

The girls’ tennis team (4-8) lost 2-5 to Springbrook on senior night on Thursday. As a result of Blair’s record this season, the team will drop to Division II for the first time in over 20 years, according to coach David Ngbea.

Girls' varsity volleyball subdues Springbrook

The girls' varsity volleyball team (3-4) played a hard fought game against the Springbrook Blue Devils (1-7) on Monday, winning the game in four sets with scores of 25-15, 25-17, 20-25 and 25-23. The Blazers started off strong in the first two sets, but had more difficulty holding Springbrook back in the final two.

Softball steamrolls competition

The Blair softball team (10-1) destroyed the Springbrook Blue Devils (4-6) by a final score of 20-1. The mercy rule was called after five innings of play.

Gymnastics vaults to victory against Springbrook and Sherwood

Blair’s girls varsity gymnastics team, reigning state champions, (3-1) continued their winning streak Thursday night with a victory over the Springbrook Blue Devils (0-4) and the Sherwood Warriors (3-2). Despite missing their two highest level gymnasts, Katie Pohlman and CiCi Bergman, who are both training for state gymnastic competitions, the team received first place, scoring 152.5 points compared to Sherwood’s 139.4 and Springbrook’s 95.7. Though the lead scorer was from Sherwood, second, third and fourth place were captured by Blazers.

Springbrook squashes varsity field hockey

The varsity field hockey team (4-9) fell to the Springbrook Blue Devils (10-2) on Thursday evening, ending its season in a 6-1 loss. Blair failed to match up defensively and couldn't get anything going on the offensive end.

Blue Devils edge varsity football

After being shut out in consecutive weeks by Sherwood and Northwood, the Blazers were desperate for their first victory facing a mediocre Blue Devil squad. Through the game’s first five minutes, it seemed as if Blair was primed to finally capture that elusive W. However, Springbrook came roaring back to capture a lead they would hold for the rest of the game. Penalties, key players out due to injury and poor execution all contributed to Blair's sixth straight loss.
