Blair paraeducator Mary Nawabi lay in her hospital bed, anticipating the day she would see her family again, and dreading the many ways they could be captured. The two weeks she waited for them to cross the extensive mountains, dodging helicopters and bullets, seemed amazingly long. Nawabi would not rest easily until she knew her family had safely escaped Afghanistan.
