The girls' varsity softball team (10-1) defeated Quince Orchard Friday afternoon in an unnecessarily close game. Though Blair was clearly the more skilled team, a lack of concentration in the early innings forced them to make a significant comeback to secure the win.

The Blair varsity girls' softball team (6-0) confidently defeated Bethesda - Chevy Chase (B – CC) to uphold their perfect record and tough reputation. Despite the low level of competition, the Blazers did well adjusting to the game while maintaining a high level of play.

Blair's varsity softball team (2-0) won decisively against Walter Johnson in the first home game of the season. Dominating the plate and maintaining control of the field on defense kept the Blazers securely in the lead.


Wootton sneaks by softball

The Wootton Patriots defeated Blair's varsity softball team 3-2 Friday night, a down-to-the-wire battle plagued by passive Blazer hitting. The cheering crowd was especially enthusiastic, but the team's energy reached optimum level too late in the game, according to sophomore shortstop Blake Morgan-Gamber. The Blazers secured spots on bases, but consistently stranded them.


Bengals edge Softball in extra innings

In extra innings Monday night, Blair (3-2) softball fell to Blake (4-1), 2-1, in a pitching battle. Freshman Samantha Schweickhardt pitched a complete game, striking out 11 Bengals and allowing just one earned run, but the Blazer offense only accumulated five hits and brought just one runner home.


Softball slaughters Wheaton

In a game that set impressive standards for the still fairly new season, varsity softball (2-0) shut-out Wheaton Knights 18-0, cutting off play in the fifth inning on account of the mercy rule. The Blazers prevented almost all batters from reaching the bases with freshman pitcher Samantha Schweickhardt's consistently blowing the ball by Wheaton. Slow and off target Wheaton pitching allowed Blazers to spend most of the game on offense.
