On Saturday, May 4, Blair hosted their second Blair Fair since the pandemic filled with vendors, performances, and a variety of booths hosted by the local community. From the main entrance to the end of Blair Boulevard, festivities lasted from noon to 4 p.m.

Blair Fair offered local artists a much-needed opportunity to showcase their talent. Kiosks lined the walls of the gym, selling a wide assortment of handmade goods ranging from stickers to organic candles to oven mitts.

Crochet vendor Naila Viola (@NailasDarlingDesigns) hosted her first ever market at the Blair Fair. Overall, Viola was satisfied with her success and enjoyed the experience. “[Blair Fair has been] so good, I’ve made the money back that I paid to be here. So, I’m happy,” she says.

Jewelry vendor Deb Sivigny (@twincat.art) also had a positive experience. Sivigny started her business two years ago and marveled at all the vendor opportunities within Montgomery County, including Blair Fair. “I feel really lucky to be here [at Blair Fair], and it’s great supporting something local.” Sivigny says.

Blair Fair not only spotlighted the visual arts, but it also celebrated the performing arts in the auditorium and down Blair Boulevard. Blazers proudly showed off their talent whether that be belting out songs from Oliver! or stepping to rhythmic music.

Finally, no fair is complete without carnival games and bouncy houses which were provided by Blair’s SGA. All the activities were free and supplied endless fun for all of the families wandering through.

However it was not just the SGA who hosted activities, other Blair organizations and clubs used Blair Fair as an opportunity to engage with the community as well. While Silverquill hosted trivia, the Student-Athlete Leaders Council hosted basketball clinics and challenges for Blair alumni including former NBA players, Jason Miskri and Steve Francis.

Sophomore Lily Fischer volunteered for the National Art Honors Society hosting a booth that sold stylish earrings and offered face painting for children. “I find [Blair Fair] a lot of fun, because I like art and I like volunteering, so combining them together is nice.” Fischer says.

All in all, Blair Fair was a huge success and united the community in the best ways possible: through art, song, and bouncy castles.
