Things we know we'll never do but want to believe we can.

On behalf of SCO, happy New Year! Photo courtesy of Death + Taxes.

It's here. 2012. Potentially the end of the world as we know it. At the start of every new year, billions of people around the world vow to change themselves for the better, but only a handful of people stick to their promises. Some of us SCO staffers are trying to join that group of elites by putting our New Year's resolutions out there for all to see.

"My New Year's resolution is to..."

Allison: Stay connected to my close friends in college, no matter how far away they might be.

Alison: Make sure that 2012 is as math-free a year as it can be.

Brittany: Try to remember to keep a safe distance when driving behind the police...

Emma H.: Never miss opportunities; keep up-to-date on the new Skins series; be inspired; meet a famous model on the streets of New York, like Francisco Lachowski.

Emma L.: Hug 2,012 puppies.

Eli: Work out every day.

Hannah: Get more exercise, a.k.a. run to the fridge instead of walking.

Isabel: To make my resolutions last past January 2nd, to do better in chemistry and go running once in a while.

Janvi: Learn how to sing songs in at least three different languages.

Langston: Get all of these done: Release a multi-platinum bluegrass/K-pop/R&B crossover album; become a General in Jelly Battle; win the EGOT awards; be more ambitious. Happy New Year!!

Liv: Pass all of my classes; finally get a good tan this summer; marry a Backstreet Boy.

Margie: Be entirely surrounded by British people.

Melissa: Sleep as much as possible during second semester; attend a concert at the Fillmore before the summer starts; gain over 200 followers on Twitter.

Melodi: Watch less TV. Watch less TV. Watch less TV. There is no chance of this happening.

Molly N.: Well after doing a thorough introspective look into my everyday life, I realize that the thing I need most is a full life makeover. Mine will include bronzer, hair bumps, and skin tight dresses. That's right folks, "the cabs are here" to take me straight to my Jersey Shore Life Plan.

Myla: Eat more nutritious food.

Rachel:Finally learn how to play the ukulele that has been sitting in my closet for the past year.

Richard: Stay in shape and finish "The Godfather".

Saaraa: Put more time than I did in 2011 into volunteering/community service, to make sure those in need in our community get the help they deserve.

Sarah: Complete the Pyramid of Greatness. Become a Swanson.

Simon: Stop loafing so much, be super involved and understand the site structure more.

Stacy: Stop loafing.

Valerie: Tell better jokes. Preferably ones that are not so cheesy.
