Boys' tennis crushes Cavaliers

by Katelin Montgomery, Print News Editor

The boys' tennis team (1-0) defeated the Kennedy Cavaliers (0-1) by a score of 7-0 in their first match of the season. Although the game was seemingly perfect, according to head coach David Ngbea, there is still room for improvement.

Junior Daniel Barg, Blair's second singles player, won both of his sets 6-0 but feels that he could have played better. "I wasn't hitting my ground strokes well today but was serving very well and was winning games easily," he reflected. "I think I could have played much better with an attacking style and more consistency."

Freshmen Eric Neyman, Blair's third doubles player, had the longest lasting match of the day, which he also won 6-0. "Our opponents took a long time in between points so it still took very long."

Junior Daniel Chen also had a perfect match and used the opportunity against Kennedy to practice a more aggressive style. "When I get an easy shot I try to hit hard, from the baseline and I try to get topspin," he explained. He attributed his match win to his opponent's lack of consistency. "[My opponent] had a few big shots but was not consistent," he said

The varsity boys' tennis team will play its next home match on Wednesday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. against Richard Montgomery.
