The fiasco at the Oscars lights up Twitter

The movie Moonlight won best picture at the Oscars this week after La La Land was mistakenly announced the winner. Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given the wrong envelope, announcing the winner of Best Supporting Actress (Emma Stone) instead. The mixup was eventually straightened out, and the Academy apologized.

Oprah Winfrey and countless others took to Twitter this week to congratulate Moonlight on its Best Picture victory at the Oscars. Winfrey also said that it was her favorite Oscars in memory, a sentiment shared by many. Nothing makes live TV more fun than a live TV mistake like giving an award to the wrong person.

Rapper and social media sensation Chance The Rapper sent out this tweet at noon on Friday, announcing that he had bought out all of the tickets to the movie Get Out at the theater on 87th in Chicago. He loved the movie so much that he wanted all of his fans to come and see it for free, an awesome opportunity for those closely following Chance's Twitter.

The Sacramento Kings came under fire from the sporting community because of their trade of Demarcus "Boogie" Cousins and Omri Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, and two draft picks. The NBA TV show The Starters came down hard on the Kings, naming them the "Worst of the Week" and making fun of General Manager Vlade Divac's claim that he "had a better offer" for Cousins a few days prior.

Blazer Basketball tweeted out in celebration of the boys basketball team's victory over the Bethesda/Chevy Chase Barons in the first round of playoffs. The team will play the Richard Montgomery Rockets in the second round.

February 26th marks the five-year anniversary of the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Martin was killed by George Zimmerman as a part of the controversial "Stand Your Ground" law in Florida. Zimmerman has been in court off and on since the incident, and numerous civil rights groups have used Martin as a martyr for the "Black Lives Matter" movement.

This tweet from rapper Nicki Minaj came in response to a rap battle between herself and rapper Remy Ma. Ma has released several diss tracks, and Minaj is expected to respond shortly with a comeback of her own.

Who doesn't love a good Twitter beef? Golden State Warriors basketball player Javale McGee and TNT broadcaster and retired NBA player Shaquille O'Neal went back and forth this week after years of McGee being heavily featured on Shaq's comedy show "Shaqtin' a Fool." McGee claims that being featured on the show has had a negative impact on his basketball career, and this tweet was one of many in response by Shaq.

This tweet by the New York Times highlighted a quote by President Donald Trump. In a recent meeting with state governors about the Affordable Care Act, Trump complained about complications in his Obamacare reforms, saying comically that, "Nobody knew that health care could be so complicated."

While hosting this year's Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel made several jokes at the President's expense, including wondering whether or not Trump would deign to watch the ceremonies. On stage, with his phone's screen projected onto a wall, Kimmel sent this tweet to the President, asking him if he was still awake.
