Baja Fresh to host after-prom fundraiser

by Shannon Egan, Page Editor
Baja Fresh will be collaborating with Blair’s after-prom committee on May 12 and May 20 between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to raise money for Blair’s after-prom celebration. Fifteen percent of sales will go to support after-prom.

In order for Blair to receive 15 percent of the profits, customers must identify themselves as part of the Blair community by bringing a flyer, which can be found online at Baja Fresh’s official website.

Baja Fresh is located at 8515 Fenton Street in Silver Spring. For more information, call Baja Fresh at 301-587-6542.

For more information about Blair’s after-prom, contact after-prom coordinator William Ramsey at 301-270-3305 or
William_Ramsey@fc.mcps.k12.md.us.

To make a financial contribution to Blair’s after-prom fund, make checks payable to MBHS after-prom and mail to MBHS after-prom, 51 University Blvd East, Silver Spring, MD 20901.

Why only the one at silver spring. What about us in the magnet where there is a Baja Fresh 5 minutes from my house and Blair is about 50 min. away? Just have it an arrangement with the whole chain. Also, one teacher was trying to tell us WE got 15% off of our order AND it helped support THE FRESHMAN CLASS, not after-prom. Can someone get this straight.

The money that Blair makes from this fundraiser will mostly be going to help pay for after-prom. There is not a 15 percent discount on orders, 15 percent of the proceeds (from people who announce their affiliation will Blair) will go to Blair's PTSA.

15%is so little. if people want to help out after-prom they should just contribute directly. that is, unless, they are going to eat at baja fresh anyway. people should think first about how much money is going to the cause in relation to how much is going to Baja if their intention is to help out

This makes sense...they are giving away free Prom tickets after they stop selling them (they supposedly will be sold only until 5/14). So the people who want the free tickets can't get them because they want to buy them before they are no on sale anymore.

Anna, quit your whining. First of all, fifteen percent is a substantial amount. Second of all, you think Baja Fresh is doing this promotion purely out of kindness? No, they're doing it to help business, since they know that the Blair community composes a large section of their potential clientele. Why not attempt to improve their business while at the same time help Blair? - something that contributing money directly would not not accomplish. And why should people have to think about the proportions of where their money is going to? Oh, I guess hungry people with a craving for good semi-authentic Mexican food should only eat at Baja Fresh if it agrees to donate a more substantial percentage of sales to the cause. Come on Anna, put a little more thought into your comment before you post on this messageboard.

Who would want to have their prom at Baja Fresh? I thought that was a joke, you guys are serious! New people need to join the prom commitee!

I'm pretty sure the fundraisers for May 12th and 20th are supporting the freshman class, not after-prom. I know after-prom has a fundraiser there as well, but not on either of these days.

I am a parent of alumni, and I would support this effort, but I can't find the "brochure" on the website listed. If you can send me one, please e-mail it to ejohnson@erols.com--thakns!
