AFI to host free screening of Super Size Me on Nov. 20

by Shannon Egan, Page Editor
The American Film Institute (AFI) is collaborating with Holy Cross Hospital and Montgomery County to host a free screening of Super Size Me on Nov. 20 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the AFI Silver Theatre in downtown Silver Spring, according to an ad in The Gazette.

Super Size Me, a documentary highlighting obesity in America, premiered in January 2004 at independent theaters. Spanish subtitles will be provided for the AFI’s showing.

After the film, film-goers are invited to meet Council member George Levental, the Chair of Montgomery County Council’s Health and Human Services Committee, as he leads a town meeting and discussion about the documentary and how the community can help children stay healthy in today’s society.

AFI’s Silver Theatre is located at 8633 Colesville Road in Silver Spring. To contact the AFI, call 301-495-6720.

For more information about this special screening, call Patty Vitale Rapp at the office of Council member George Leventhal at 240-777-7972.

Super Size Me is rated PG-13 for language, sex and drug references and a graphic medical procedure.
