Blazers attend annual Activity Fair

by Devon Madison, Online Entertainment Editor
Blair's annual Activity Fair was held Sept. 13 and 14 in the main gym during 5A and 5B classes. The Activity Fair, which represented approximately 35 different clubs, was set up to encourage students to sign up for extracurricular activities at Blair, according to SGA Secretary of Student Organizations Scott Rathbone.

The Activity Fair, which has been held on Blair Boulevard in previous years, was moved because of overcrowding. Tables were set up along the gym's perimeter to allow students easy access, according to Rathbone.

Rathbone organized the event and made sure everything ran smoothly. However, he did find that a few glitches in the plans hindered the success of the fair.

"It wasn't very well organized," said Rathbone. "The tables weren't set up the way they were supposed to and the SGA didn't get the club sign-up sheet out early enough."

SGA sponsor Rondai Ravilious had a similar reaction. "There are about 80 clubs at Blair, and only about 35 participated in the event," she said.

Ravilious believes that the clubs involved did an exceptional job. "The clubs who participated had a great attitude and did a really great job of being enthusiastic and recruiting people," she said.

Sophomore Anna Elkins also praised the clubs' efforts. "I liked the fact that it was easy to understand what each club was about," Elkins stated.

Overall, SGA members felt the fair was successful. "In the end, everybody came together to help get us through," Ravilious said.
