They're so good, it's scary


Who ever said Halloween should only last a day? Well, no one around here. So grab your masks, capes and most importantly, your bravery before you hit these Halloween hot spots:

What: Fright Fest
Where: Six Flags America

When: Fridays 5:00-10:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 1:00-10:00pm, Monday-Thursday CLOSED
Cost: $49.99 general admission
During October, Six Flags becomes a bastion of horror with complex haunted houses and monsters wandering the theme park in search of their next victims.

What: Markoff's Haunted Forest
Where: Calleva Farm

When: Fridays-Saturdays 6:30-10:30pm, weekdays 6:30-9:30pm
Cost: $20
Take a 20 minute hike along densely wooded candlelit trails, through shacks and over creaky bridges. During the trail-walk, try the zip line, mobile climbing wall, or the extensive ropes course. If you aren't the adventurer type, spend your time on the Haunted Hayrides, go to the bonfire or watch an outdoor movie. Hot food and drinks, fortune tellers, and the Haunted Bus are also options.

What: Field of Screams

Cost: Haunted Trail $20, maze and Haunted House $7
This 30-minute walk winds through a haunted forest, a Slaughter House and Frankenstein's Castle. Go through a shrinking tunnel, find your way through the spider's lair and avoid "demented creatures" in the Psycho House of Terror. If you really want a scare, get lost in a 10-acre Corn Maze of Mayhem.

What: Boo at the Zoo

This year the National Zoo will be transformed into a spooky neighborhood with 40 treat stations located in different animal houses all over the zoo for trick-or-treating.

Go on a Haunted Hayride where you will see creatures toting chainsaws, lifelike rodents and insects and hear ghost tales. The Haunted Barn which offers plenty of surprises is also on the grounds.
