Blair marching band to perform

The ninth annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade will be held this Saturday, Nov. 18 in Silver Spring. The parade will start at the intersection of Sligo Ave. and Georgia Ave. at 9:30 a.m. and will then march North on Georgia, turning onto Ellsworth Drive and ending at Fenton Street, according to the Downtown Silver Spring website.

Blair's own marching band will be featured in the parade, which will be broadcasted live on channel 8 and aired again on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23.

From 7 a.m. to about 1 p.m., traffic will be blocked off on the North-bound lanes of Georgia Ave, from East-West Highway to Colesville Road. The public parking garage at Sligo Avenue and Fenton Street will close at 2 am on Saturday morning and the Gateway Plaza lot at Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue will close at 7 am. Free parking will be available in public garages, like the Wayne Avenue Garage and the Town Square Garage, and at the public lots in Downtown Silver Spring, according to the Silver Spring Regional Services Center website. The Metro/Red Line at the Silver Spring Station behind the Discovery building is also nearby.
