Spirit week themes announced
The second spirit week of the year will run the week of Feb. 12 and features a winter formal on Friday, Feb. 16.
Spirit Week includes Prep School Day on Monday, Character Day on Tuesday, Wear Red Day on Wednesday, Bad Hair Day on Thursday and concludes with Twin Day.
The week will culminate in a formal dance Friday, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the SAC. It is open to all students with Montgomery County Public School IDs. Tickets will be sold in the SGA office ahead of time for $5 and at the door for $7. No pre-registration of guests is necessary.
SGA President Eric Hysen hopes that the dance will be successful and will become an annual event. "We'll see how it goes this year," he said. "I would love to make it a Blair tradition."
The winter sports pep rally will be held 7th period on Wednesday in the gym.
According to Hysen, the SGA is also planning to have a DJ and club performances in the SAC during both lunch periods on each of the Spirit Days.

Prep School day is a new one we're trying out this year. Guys are encouraged to wear slacks and collared shirts and girls are encouraged to wear polos and skirts.
More information on all of the days will be announced to the entire school next week.
Also, one update to the article - the dance is no longer going to be a mixer with Kennedy and Einstein as was originally planned; we chose to remove that component to avoid a conflict with the BNC Shakedown mixer in March. Any MCPS student is still welcome to attend if he or she is the guest of a Blair student, though. (All guests must have a valid MCPS ID to get in.)
and if blair alone can hardly fit on the first floor, how do you thing BLAIR, KENNEDY, and EINSTEIN is going to all fit?!? like look at homeocmming!! that was over crowded there, and two more schools isnt going to make it any better even tho its really k00l that we get to mix!
SGA scheduled the winter spirit week and dance last May after hearing strong student demand for another dance. (And to respond to "what the hey?" - the dance is, in fact, in the planbook.) We had no idea at the time that BNC was planning the Shakedown on March 9th, three weeks after our scheduled dance. Likewise, BNC didn't know about our dance when they scheduled the Shakedown early in the year. Neither group was trying to be "rude" - it was just a coincidence that the dates we picked were close. SGA is doing everything we can to try and avoid a conflict between the events.
I'm meeting with BNC tomorrow to try and resolve some remaining issues with this situation, but I want to make it extremely clear that there's no way we would ever try to hurt another great Blair event.
Winter formal isn't as known as HC. Not everyone that went to HC is going to go to the Winter Formal. Although Eric says that it will not be a mixer anymore.
Can't wait for Bad Hair Day, though.
now everyone will look like us!
