SGA-sponsored Winter Formal postponed

by Priyanka Gokhale, Online Editor-in-Chief
The SGA announced today that the Winter Formal, originally scheduled for tomorrow, Feb. 16, has been postponed. If approved by administrators, the new date will be Friday, Feb. 23. SGA President Eric Hysen cited the impending snow day as the reason for rescheduling. "We didn't really have a choice on whether or not to move it at this point," he said.

Because class time was missed for the snow days, the pep rally originally scheduled for this Wednesday will not be postponed. However, the spirit week will be extended through next Friday and club performances will continue to take place at both lunches throughout the week.

The new spirit week will feature Bad Hair day on Wednesday, Twin day on Thursday and Blazer Spirit day on Friday.

If the dance is approved, all previous rules about tickets, outside guests and appropriate attire will still hold.

Parents who had originally signed up to chaperone the dance are asked to e-mail SGA Vice President Molly Martinez to notify her about their availability for the new date. According to Hysen, parents who were not originally signed up but wish to chaperone can e-mail Martinez expressing their interest.

that's poppycock. What's spirit week without a pep rally?

I wish we could have had the pep rally too, but the administration wouldn't let us take away another period of class time when we've already missed three and a half days this week. We do still have a spring sports pep rally planned in May.

c'mon!!!!!!!it is not fair we have nothing to do with the school closings, and you guys canceled the pep rally. we need sometime in the school to relax with friends, not just out side school. and the thing is we won’t get this kind of chance for about three months or more form now on anyway, that is fine though. i believe, the SGA, i mean you guys know what you doing so let's accept it.

in case you guys forgot, we didn't always have more than one spirit week. i'm glad that the SGA is doing so much to get school spirit. it's just a pep rally. i'm sure you'll find some way to survive for the next few months without one.
