Fall sports pep rally to be held Friday

by Elsi Wu, Online Sports Editor
A short fall sports pep rally will be held Friday during sixth period in the stadium. Organized by media center specialist Susan Madden and attendance secretary Roxanne Fus, the pep rally aims to boost students' spirit and pride in their school.

Unlike the annual homecoming pep rally, the one Friday will be much shorter, lasting only about forty minutes for the entire school. "This is not a major pep rally, just a way to get fall sports started," said Madden.

Another difference between this pep rally and the homecoming pep rally is that students will be seated by academy in their emergency locations instead of by graduating class. "This is a spirit pep rally," said Fus, "not like the homecoming one where it's about class."

The program for the pep rally will include short performances by the marching band, cheerleaders and poms, as well as an introduction of all fall athletes.

Fall athletes will be dismissed from class at 1:15 p.m. to report to the field; all other students will be released from sixth period at 1:30 p.m.

Madden hopes this experimental pep rally will breathe life into Blair's school spirit and encourage attendance to all athletic events this season. "Football's great, but other sports are too," she said.
