Songs that will make any Christmas merry

Christmas trees are up, gingerbread houses are constructed and stockings are hung. The holidays are in full swing, which means its time to break from hardcore rock and rap and sing along to some holiday classics. But instead of listening to the radio and waiting for that perfect song to come on amongst the commercials, Silver Chips Online has compiled a playlist that will have you in the holiday spirit in no time.

Mariah Carey – All I want for Christmas is you
Whether you are trying to serenade a loved one or just enjoy belting Christmas songs in the shower, "All I want for Christmas is you" is a classic song that will melt any heart. Mariah Carey's voice carries a high range of notes and the chancing pace of the lyrics will have you swelling with emotion throughout.

Adam Sandler – The Chanukah song
Just because Hanukkah is over does not mean that songs dedicated to the Jewish holiday can't be sung. Adam Sandler's "The Chanukah Song" will keep the spirit of the holiday going while giving the gift of laughter with its goofy tone and wacky, but catchy, lyrics.

Judy Garland – Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Your troubles will be miles away as you sing along to the universally known and loved, "Have yourself a merry little Christmas." With close friends gathered 'round, you can voice your dedication to one another and hopes for a fun-filled future together, the main idea behind the song.

Bobby Helms – Jingle bell rock
For a little more upbeat jam session, turn on "Jingle bell rock." The repetitive and cheerful lyrics make the song easy to remember and fun to belt out loud. Enjoy dancing? Up the excitement and learn the infamous dance from "Mean Girls."

Brenda Lee – Rockin around the Christmas tree
Sticking with the more upbeat music, "Rockin around the Christmas tree" will have Blazers rocking and rolling all night. The bouncy and light rhythm will make it hard to fight off that urge to get up and dance, but if you're too full from all the gingerbread cookies, then just sing at the top of your lungs.

Gene Autry and the Cass County Boys – Frosty the snowman
Frosty the snowman is a recognizable character from many childhoods, and one of those holiday movies that will never get old. To keep in touch with the timeless ball of snow, sing his theme song loud and proud. Better yet, sing it while making your very own snowman and maybe Frosty will pay a visit to you this winter.

Nat King Cole – Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Forget about Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen, and shine the spotlight on Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer this Christmas by singing his theme song. Rudolph's nose will only shine brighter as he goes down in history as yet another Christmas celebrity icon.

Martina McBride – Let it snow
Every winter, kids everywhere pray for blizzards, ice storms – anything to get a day off school. "Let it snow" embodies this wish and gives those hopeful children a song for the snow gods. With Montgomery County's notorious school closings, any bit of the song may just fulfill those dreams.

Tommie Connor – I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus
Everyone looks for love come Christmas, so why not celebrate the union of Santa and your mom with Tommie Connor's rendition of "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus." Sure it's not your conventional relationship, but think of it this way – you'll automatically be on the nice list.

John Lennon – War is over
Show your appreciation for the many troops overseas by singing John Lennon's "War is over." Lyrics such as "A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year/ let's hope it's a good one/ without any fear/ War is over over/ If you want it," encourage a peaceful and loving holiday and New Year; pass along this important message this Christmas.

Jose Feliciano – Feliz Navidad
Add some Spanish flair to your Christmas with Jose Feliciado's "Feliz Navidad." The bilingual lyrics will have you itching to salsa dance while getting you in touch with other cultures during the holiday time.
