Newsbrief: "It's Academic!" team wins first-round competition

by Kevin Chang, Page Editor
The Blair "It's Academic!" team won on its its first-round TV taping on Saturday, September 28.

Senior captain Matt Baron, senior Jared Sagoff, and junior Jonathan Magin, who missed only two questions and maintained a solid lead throughout the game, accumulated 655 points and defeated teams from Watkins Mill and Laurel high schools, which earned 555 and 290 points respectively.

"We worked really well as a team," said Sagoff. "When one of us didn't know the answer, we were sure that another one of us did." Sagoff had possibly the best buzz of the game, answering a math question before host Mac McGarry could begin reading the question.

The show will be aired on channel NBC-4 at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26.

More information to come.
