Blair freshman killed on county bus

by Sophie Schwadron, Online Editor-in-Chief
After a dispute on a Montgomery County Ride On bus last night, freshman Tai Lam, 14, was shot and killed, WTOP News reported this morning. Two other students are currently in serious condition at Georgetown University MedStar Hospital. At least one of those students also attends Blair.

The three students, all underclass males, were on the bus around 11 p.m. and got into an argument with another group of three to five young people. As the other group exited the bus at Piney Branch Road and Arliss Street, one of them turned and fired several shots into the bus, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD). All three boys received gunshot wounds and were transported to a local trauma center, the MCPD confirmed. As of this morning, the MCPD had not released the boys' identities.

I heard about this this AM bc Piney Branch Rd was closed. I had no idea it was bc of a shooting.
On th 10pm new I just saw Quy Lam: I graduated from Blair w her.
It was her 14yr old younger brother who was murdered. Very sad.

It's always sad when things like this happen.

To the school: If you have a moment of silence this time, please don't have someone talking in the background like last time. It's not very conducive to being respectful.

according to NBC4, he wasnt arguing with the other group. it was just two other groups on the bus. i know either way, he was killed...but this shows the good kid he was, getting caught in the crossfire, instead of someone who caused his own death by arguing. RIP tai, he was in my english class...

We, at Oak View ES, all remember Tai Lam with great affection. He was an Honor Student here and a really nice boy. This is a terrible tragedy. I wish to express my sympathy to Tai's family and all his siblings who were also part of the Oak View family.

I did not know him. To be honest, I don't even thin I have heard his name.
However, that does not stop me from feeling the pain we all do. He was a Blazer, like all of us. A lot of people like him, as a friend. I bet he was a good friend too. He will always be. He had so much ahead for him. I wish I knew him. It truly is horrible that stuff like this happens. I don't know why anyone would do something so terrible. I hope him and his family and friends get justice to the scum who did this.

He was the sweetest person ever. He was the type of person who nobody could be mad at. He had the biggest smile ever. Although he was small an short his heart could never be compared with that. He will truly be missed and justice will be served. He wouldn't want us to cry over his grave but he would've wanted us to celebrate his life an stay as fresh as possible. School will never be the same without him. We must keep him in our prayers and know that he is in a better place. We all know that he is looking down at us with love and care. He was not only a friend but he was a brother never forgotten. We will all see him again when our time comes, till then never forget his smile, hugs, and love that he shared with us all. IN LOVING MEMORY OF TAI LAM; may you rest in peace.

I barely knew him, he only gave me one hug. But, I will always remeber him as the guy with the big smile and a very stylish scarf. You will be loved forever.
