Rumors tryouts scheduled for Monday, Tuesday in auditorium

Auditions for Blair's fall play Rumors will be held Monday, Sept. 13 and Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

Students do not need to sign up, and each audition is expected to run under 20 minutes. Those interested in the play will be assigned roles from one of the 10 characters in Rumors, which is a play about "a dinner party gone bad," said Artistic Director Anne Cullen, who is currently substituting for former Blair drama director Kelly Newman. Newman is currently studying her doctorate abroad in England, which makes Rumors Cullen's directorial debut at Blair. "I am very excited about this production," said Cullen, "and I am dedicated to make this the best possible production."

The comedy of errors includes some high-class mischief from fooling the police to trying to find the vanished Chinese cook. Cullen said no experience is necessary to come try out for the play. "Students from all grades are welcome. I am looking for students who love the theatre and to act," she added. Prospective actors should be "dedicated, responsible and enthusiastic" as well.

Callbacks will be announced Wednesday outside the choral room in the drama hallway. Students are also needed for costume and stage design or publicity, and should inquire with Cullen to obtain the necessary forms. Rehearsals for the play will begin immediately after auditions," said Cullen, and the first read-through will be on Thursday, Sept. 16.
