Math teacher retells fond memories

After 19 years at Blair and 40 years of teaching, Barbara Hofman plans to retire.

Besides teaching math, Hofman enjoys visiting lighthouses and traveling around the world. She especially loved Egypt, China and Italy.

While in the classroom, Hofman brings an interesting and humorous perspective to school experiences. She relates one particularly poignant story from her first year of teaching. A boy dragged a Christmas tree three and one-half miles so that her classroom could be decorated for the holiday season. "It was like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree with no needles," she remembers with a chuckle.
