Blazers put up fight; lose to Blake

DEC. 5, WHEATON ICE RINK-

The Blair hockey team lost its 3rd straight game today, 4-2, against Blake High School.

The 0-3 Blazers were once again out-shot as the Bengals listed 31 shots on goal in comparison to Blair's 19.

Blair player Marty scored Blair's first goal of the game in the second period. But it was senior Chris Zaldivar's last minute goal that really got the team excited.

When Blair pulled junior goalie Graham Matthews out of the game with little more than a minute to play, they added a sixth offender to attempt a comeback. This is when the puck ricocheted off Zaldivar's stick and sailed into the net. Zaldivar, who has played on the hockey team for three years, had never scored a goal. He jumped up and down hysterically as he appropriately celebrated a milestone in his hockey career.
