In continuation of rained-out game, Blair improves to 7-3

APR 30, BLAZER STADIUM--

In the final three and a half innings left from the Blazers' Mar 29 game against Kennedy High School that was postponed because of rain, Blair won easily, improving a 6-1 lead to a final score of 10-1. The game came as a bit of relief after two consecutive tough losses, to Watkins Mill and Damascus High Schools, for the Blazers.

Pitcher Emma Simson showed vast improvement over her poor outing of the evening before, registering perfect fifth and sixth innings and allowing no runs. Blair's defense was also more solid than in the previous two games. The Blazers had no errors at all, either in the first segment of the game or the second.

Blair's bats looked more alive than they had against Damascus' or Watkins Mill's strong pitchers, but the team still seemed impatient at the plate, chasing balls high instead of drawing walks. "They have to be more disciplined at the plate," said Coach Louis Hoelman. "We have to start hitting better against good pitching."

The Blazers, now 7-3, have their toughest games behind them. Hoelman believes his team can win its remaining five games and win the regular season division title.
