Wrestlers score easy victory over empty Kennedy team

DEC. 23—NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM

Blair's varsity wrestling team rallied together for its last match of the year, defeating Kennedy 54-24 in a quick, decisive match and raising its overall record to 1-1.

The Blazers dominated the mat from the very start, with pins by seniors Cesar Sosa (125) and Alan Coleman (140). Kennedy fought back to win in the 145 and 160 lb. weight classes, but senior Herb Morsha-Taylor put an end to the Cavalier victories with a decisive 26-second pin in the heavyweight division.

Blair then scored 36 easy points off six Kennedy forfeits, a strong lead that the Cavaliers were unable to overcome despite receiving 12 points of their own from Blair forfeits in the 135 lb. and 152 lb. weight classes. By the end of the match, the Blazers had taken a 30-point lead over Kennedy, defeating the Cavaliers in less than an hour for Blair's first win of the season.

The Blazers' next match will be at Wheaton on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
