APR 23, WOOTTON HIGH SCHOOL--

The Blazers suffered a big 4-9 defeat at Wootton High School. This loss drops the team's record to 4-5.

Sophomore goalie Andrew Helguson was barraged with an onslaught of shots, stopping many, but allowing nine to pass him.

Helguson believed that Blair's defenders played well, but were no match for the dominant Patriots. "The defense did a great job of containing. [Wootton] had a very skilled offensive line," Helguson said. "It was their offense that won the game."

Five minutes into the third quarter, the Blazers seemed to pick up the slack left in the previous two quarters by scoring two goals within four minutes. However, three Wootton goals in the next five minutes stopped Blair in its tracks.

While the team produced several impressive goals in three of the four quarters, they could not send the balls into Wootton's net. "Our offensive line didn't play up to their usual game," said Helguson.

Junior Jake Riley suggested that the defeat could be attributed to small errors and simple turnovers. "We need to execute better and play as a team," Riley said. "We just turned over the ball too many times."
