Blazers lose 2-0 to Whitman in semifinals

After its thrilling defeat of Sherwood High School at home on Nov 1, the Blair boys' soccer team lost to the Whitman High School Vikings 2-0 on Nov 4, in the semifinals of the Montgomery County 4A West division playoffs.

The Blazers had received the top seed in the playoffs after going 5-2-1 during the shortened regular season. After their first-round bye Blair beat Sherwood 3-2 in the last minute of double overtime, advancing the team to the semifinals.

Against Whitman, Blair once again failed to finish its attacks, advancing the ball deep into the Vikings' zone but taking too many touches before shooting and having the ball stolen time and again by the Viking defenders. Their failure to capitalize on offensive opportunities has nagged at the Blazers all year, especially in regular season losses to Springbrook and Sherwood High Schools.
