Marcia Burlbaugh, a dance and weights instructor at Montgomery Blair High School, loves her job and has a colorful and competent background in regards to the classes she teaches.

Burlbaugh enjoys a vivacious life, that makes her highly qualified for her demanding job. "I like being active, working with kids," she said.

Extending from her childhood and into her high school years, Burlbaugh participated and excelled in sports. "In gymnastics I reached the state level and was the co-captain. I got the award for most competitive female underclasswoman," she says.

Burlbaugh attended Garfield High School in Woodbridge, Virginia where she participated in basketball, gymnastics and softball for three-years until her graduation.

Burlbaugh's completion of high school did not mark an end for her competitive career. She continued to participate in several regional aerobics contests. "I got 4th in an individual Reebok competition a couple years ago," she said.

Her busy athletic schedule decreased when her son was born, but Burlbaugh remains active and satisfied through her job at Blair, which she loves. "I enjoy teaching dance. I enjoy the students, they enjoy learning."

Burlbaugh has also explored the country quite extensively along with her husband and her twelve-year old son. She has been "camping across the United States." In those trips, she and her family drove to several state parks, but "got rained on." One of her most favorite destinations is a place up north where she likes to take a rest from her active lifestyle. "We have a family cabin in Michigan on a lake, very rustic," she says.

Burlbaugh's involvement with dance allows her to experience many genres of song and there is only one form that she doesn't take pleasure in. "I enjoy a variety of music, quiet or aerobic. I like hip-hop, but I don't like rap. I think I have a wide palette for music."

Burlbaugh's taste in music reflects her active lifestyle; she can be found participating in a wide range of sports or activities, be it as a competitor, a teacher or a coach.
