D.C. Help the Homeless Walkathon planned

The sixteenth annual Help the Homeless Walkathon will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 9:00 a.m. on the National Mall, rain or shine.

The Walkathon will occur between Seventh Street and Fourteenth Street, Northwest. The Metro will open at 6:00 a.m. for those taking the subway to the Smithsonian or Archives-Navy Memorial Stations. Participants can also take Metrobus Routes 30, 32, 34, 35 or 36.

Those interested in attending the event can go to the 2003 Help the Homeless Website for online registration or can call 1-877-WALK-HTH. On-site registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the Walkathon. The price for adults is $25, and for those 25 and younger, the cost is $15. T-shirts will be distributed to those who are registered for the event.
