Blair beats Paint Branch 2-0 in their first game

On September 5, Blair's field hockey team, in its season opener, defeated Paint Branch in a 2-0 win. Flawless defense and a penetrating offense left Paint Branch in the dust.

The Field Hockey team, coached by Coach Miller, started the game with intensity and kept that fiery attitude throughout the game. "It's our first game of the season," says senior Leah Cowdrey. "We wanted to start it off with a win."

Although Paint Branch had many opportunities for field goals, every attempt became futile against goalies Anna Benfield and Anna Wong. Benfield warded off continuous shots. Wong rejected a penalty shot that could've cut Blair's lead in half.

Amazing defense contributed to the win. Defender Carly Vieira repeatedly hustled for the ball as Paint Branch came into Blair territory. Senior Sophie Strike often kept Paint Branch from advancing to the goal post.

The girls current record is 1-0-0.
