06 Spandex Warriors 0 – Those Mean Old Teachers 0

In the first draw of the young season, both goalies proved to be exemplary. Mark Curran for Those Mean Old Teachers and Jesse Mueller of the 06 Spandex Warriors put on a good show as they thwarted shot after failed shot on the way to a scoreless tie.

Most of the game was played in the teacher's territory as they played defense and the 06 Spandex Warriors gladly pushed the attack. However, Peter Hammond played well at the striker position, getting off two or three good shots. One especially good shot was a backhanded wrist flick from just outside the crease that was barely deflected away by Mueller.

Cynthia Changuris herself, the lady behind the legendary "Changuris Cup" also played defense for Those Mean Old Teachers, helping repeatedly to clear the puck out of the zone.

At the end of the draining battle, both sides congratulated each other and left the gym exhausted.

Nachitos 1 – Sliced Bread 2

Adam MacLeod single handedly tore through the Nachitos defense for most of the game, giving Sliced Bread a tough win that puts them ahead of Justice League, but still behind the Nachitos because of the point differential. Sliced Bread currently has a point differential of –12 and the Nachitos are at –8.

MacLeod ensured that the puck was in Nachitos territory for most of the game and capitalized on a low snapshot that sneaked in past the goalie.

Raging Gametes 0 – I Kissed Your Sister 0

In the second scoreless tie of the afternoon, the goalies once again proved to be on top of their game. David Crawford of the Raging Gametes and Jonathan Carney of I Kissed Your Sister both held down the fort in the face of stiff competition.

Crawford made several acrobatic saves. On one occasion, Crawford deflected a hard slapshot with his bare hand. Also, he dove left and right to get kick saves on a particularly violent series of shots by I Kissed Your Sister.

Carney displayed quick reflexes as he made a couple of good saves on shots that were screened by a crowd of players.

The whole game was a back and forth affair with no real sense of dominance by one side or the other and the game ended in a scoreless tie.

With the tie, I Kissed Your Sister sneaks in ahead of the Fighting Funkmasters, although the Funkmasters have only played two games to I Kissed Your Sister's four.

Riemann Sums 1 – Born To Command 2

In a matchup of the two last place teams in the division, Kiran Belani scored a goal in a losing effort for the Riemann Sums.

Rohit Dewan also made a great slapshot from a tough angle, almost parallel to the goal to win the game for Born To Command.
