Blazers drop to 3-3 with horrible second half versus QO

Friday October 19 at Blazer Stadium, Blair suffered their worst defeat of the season. The Quince Orchard (QO) Cougars beat the Blazers 29-6 with a blowout 2nd quarter in which QO running back 5th year senior Delonte Morgan scored three rushing touchdowns. The loss was not the worst defeat points wise but it was the Blazers first loss to a non- powerhouse.

The Blazers lost the game entirely in the second quarter. QO was able to put 29 points on the board in the second and the Blake defense was able to hold the Blazers scoreless until the fourth quarter.

The game started promising for the Blazers. On the first drive by QO a handoff was muffed which resulted in a fumble that was recovered by the Blazers. They were unable to capitalize on the great field position. On Blake's second drive of the game they were able to get fullback Jacques Taylor going and he ran over the Blazer secondary at will. Taylor finished with 82 yards on 6 carries.

After the first quarter of play the score was tied zero to zero. It was, however, painfully evident that QO physically dominated the Blazers.

The Blazers were unable to generate any offense until very late in the game. The defense was able to come up with two key fumbles but were still unable to turn them into points. Senior lineman Pierre Ayers recovered a fumble in the redzone and rumbled for about 20 yards, but the Blazer offense was unable to generate anything.

This loss drops the Blazers to 3-3 on the season. The Blazers will face a traditionally weak Wooton team next week for homecoming. They will be without junior wide receiver Avon Jackson due to an ejection. Jackson was ejected for slamming a QO player after a play was finished.
