Boys team sweeps Paint Branch but falls to RM

The girls' cross-country team beat Richard Montgomery and Paint Branch in a double dual meet today at Paint Branch High School. The boys' team conquered Paint Branch but lost to Richard Montgomery (RM).

Both teams outdid Paint Branch with perfect scores of 15 Blair and 50 Paint Branch. (Low scores win in cross-country). The girls barely clinched a victory over RM in a "close battle" said coach Carl Lewin, with a score of 28 Blair and 29 RM. RM defeated Blair boys with 20 RM, 41 Blair.

Although the teams beat Paint Branch, this is the first of three times that they will run against them this season. The last time is the most crucial, but Lewin said that the team could learn from today's race. "We can use it as a guide for when we race them in the future," he said.

The girls were excited about their first two leads of the season. "I think the girls were awesome," said captain Ashlyn Sinclair. Juniors Halsey Sinclair and Ashlyn Sinclair came in first and second place respectively.

Junior Joshua Uzzell came in first place in the boys' race, despite an overall RM victory. "It feels good to win," he said. "I'm happy with how it went."

Uzzell's positively is widespread among the boys. "We did really well as a team. The outlook for the team is very positive," said senior Tommy Dugan. "We worked really hard."
