Spring is finally here and with the new season comes an abundance of local events. Cherry blossom concerts, kite flying and sunny picnics are just a few.


Radical Elements: Contemporary Quilts Exhibition

Do you like knitting, quilting or other fabric arts? If so, this Takoma Park exhibition may be for you. King Street Gallery and Montgomery College's School of Art and Design will be showcasing designs by local quilters part of the Studio Art Quilt Associates, a D.C. non-profit dedicated to quilt art promotion. Come see colorful threads and unique patterns at the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center at the Montgomery College Takoma Park Campus. Exhibits will run from Apr. 1 to May 9. Admission is free.

19th Annual Bunnyland

If you can't find an Easter egg hunting event for the season, Butler Farm's Bunnyland festival has that and more. Located in Germantown, Butler's Orchard offers activities for kids and adults on every weekend in April from 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Kids can enjoy hayrides, a rubber ducky derby and colorful Easter egg hunt. Typical farm activities are available as well, including pedal tractor riding, moon bounces, playing with animals and face painting. Come to Bunnyland for a sunny outdoor event.

Kenwood Cherry Blossoms and Spring Flowers WalkNow that the brutal winter has passed, Blazers are rejoicing because of cherry blossoms. Along with the April 12 Washington D.C. parade, Seneca Valley Sugarloafer Walkers Club's Kenwood Cherry Blossoms and Spring Flowers Walk offers a unique experience. Through a 10 km self-guided walk Blazers can watch azalea flower and cherry blossoms arrangements in peak bloom. The trail starts at the Capital Crescent Trail and continues through the Kenwood neighborhood. This event lasts from May 12 to May 14, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
