Homecoming moves back to the SAC

This year's Homecoming dance is scheduled to be held in the SAC after a one-year stint in the gym.

According to SGA president Sara Furlow, last year's dance was originally scheduled for the SAC, but maintenance issues forced the move to the gym. "In the past two to three years [the dance has] been in the SAC," she said. "Last year, the only reason it was in the gym was because the SAC had a leak."

Besides tradition, Furlow cited comfort as another reason for the decision to hold the dance in the SAC. "[The gym] is so extremely hot," she said. "There's no air conditioning. As soon as you walk in the gym, you're knocked out by musk and sweat."

The Homecoming theme this year is "City Night Life." In early September, each English class selected a favorite theme from a list of nominees. The SGA tallied the votes and a theme was thus chosen.

Plans for this year's dance are "top secret," according to Furlow. However, she divulged, "It's going to be a big one."

Homecoming tickets are available for sale at the SGA window in the SAC courtyard. Tickets are $10 for singles and $18 for couples, but will increase to $12 and $20, respectively, starting next Monday.

The week preceding Homecoming is Spirit Week. The days are themed as follows:

Monday: Sports/Hat Day
Tuesday: GQ/Vogue Day
Wednesday: No School - Professional Day
Thursday: Pajama Day
Friday: Class Color Day & Pep Rally
