How to: buying tickets for Blair sporting events

With the start of a new school year, the fall sports season has already begun. This year, Montgomery County has shifted sporting events to online ticketing, standardizing ticket prices for all games.

The majority of schools across the county have transitioned to only purchasing online tickets, but Blair still maintains the option of cash tickets for home games. Rita Boule, the athletics director at Blair, explains that Blair will keep cash tickets unless MCPS requires that all tickets be online. "We feel our community needs to have both those options, online and cash, for now, … [because] we want to make it equitable. We want to make our games successful," Boule says.

Cash tickets for any of Blair's home games can be bought at the door, with a standard price of $5 for those between the ages of 11 and 62 and free otherwise. For quicker lines at home football games, Blair also offers advance sales in front of the athletics office during lunch on the day of the game.

However, playoff games will only have online ticketing. Online tickets must be bought through either the GoFan website or the app. The process for purchasing both is the same - though all online tickets must be presented on a mobile device at the gate.

1. Navigate to the App or Website

First, head over to the GoFan website or open up the app. If you don't have the app installed, you can download it from the Apple App Store. Unfortunately, the app is unavailable for Android devices, but the website presents a good alternative. You can also proceed directly to Blair's homepage on the GoFan site, which skips Step 2.

2. Type in ‘Montgomery Blair’

After navigating to the home page, click on the search bar in the middle of the screen. Type in 'Montgomery Blair', and Montgomery Blair High School should pop up. Once you click on the pop-up, you will see both home and away games for all the sports listed in chronological order. To help you find specific sporting events, there is an option to filter games by sport and by home or away games.

3. Register for an account!

If you're purchasing tickets through the app, you also need to register for an account. The app will prompt you to enter an email, a password and a password confirmation. The password must be between 8 to 20 characters long, and contain at least one lowercase letter, one capital letter and one number. Buying individual tickets on the website doesn't necessarily require an account, but it is convenient to have an account saved.

4. Buy Your Ticket!

There are many options and potential deals available for sports fans, with single-use tickets and season passes. The student all-season pass is $40 with a $4 service fee, which is a little less than the price of nine games, while the fall sports pass is $30 with a $3.50 service fee. So, if you're planning on going to more than six games this school year, the season passes might be the best deal for you!

When purchasing any of the season passes, GoFan will prompt you to enter your first name, last name, email and phone number for identification. Log into your account to proceed to payment. While buying an individual ticket, you can directly proceed to payment.

Now you’re done! After purchasing your ticket, or possibly tickets, all you have to do is show up to the game to support and cheer on the Blazers.
