“I'm very interested in things that might not seem like they would be very connected.”

Senior Margo Contreras delves into interests ranging from geopolitics to art to computer science, by seeking out the classes and activities at Blair that let her pursue these passions. Whether it’s taking AP Comparative Government to learn more about different cultures or participating in the school play to tap into her artistic passions, Contreras has explored a multitude of experiences at Blair.

The club she has been involved in most at Blair is Code Girls, which she has been a part of since eighth grade. Now a captain of the club, she passes on her knowledge and passion for computer science to underclassmen by preparing presentations and organizing activities on topics ranging from cybersecurity to hardware. Maryland Representative Jamie Raskin recognized her passion for computer science by awarding her the Congressional Student Award in the 2023 Hispanic Heritage Student Awards Ceremony.

Her advice to other students? “Don’t get too comfortable. If you want to try something, try it.”
