Freshman Halsey Sinclair excels

At the Montgomery Invitational Indoor Track and Field Meet held on Saturday at the Prince Georges Sports and Learning Complex, Blair's runners held their own in a variety of events but were not able to win any races.

Freshman Halsey Sinclair was the only Blazer to crack a top three in any event. In the 3,200 meter race, she placed second behind Hayfield Secondary's Morgan Phelan and ahead of Jennifer Chichester of Archbishop Carroll. Sinclair' s time in the 3,200 meter race was 11:50.37.

While Sinclair was the only Blazer to place at the meet, several competed in other events. Blair's team in the 4x200 meter relay race placed last behind Dunbar, Archbishop Carroll, Damascus, Mount De Sales, and Woodlawn High Schools in heat seven of ten.

Other Blazers who competed include both senior Sekou Kourouma and junior Michael Wright in the boys 55 meter dash, senior Nicole Gray in the girls 55 meter dash, Junior Anthony Glynn in the boys 800 meter run, senior Esey Kidane in the boys 800 meter run, freshmen Keianna Dixon and Ashlyn Sinclair in the girls 800 meter run, and senior Matt Sheldon in the boys 1 mile and 3,200 meter runs. Halsey and Ashlyn Sinclair also ran in the girls 1 mile run.

The next meet, the MCPS Championship, will be held on January 24 at PG Sportsplex from 3:30 pm to 9 pm.
