Inside Blazer Football: Calvin Anderson outlines game plan against Seneca Valley

What must the Blazer football team do to beat the 15th ranked Seneca Valley Screaming Eagles this Friday at Blazer Stadium? Without Chris Kelly (who now attends UMD), the Screaming Eagles were beatable last year and went 4- 6, with a loss to Einstein.

Eagles senior quarterback Chris Cosby is averaging 165 passing yards and three touchdowns per game. The Eagles defense only gave up 84 yards on the ground versus a Wheaton team with a 270-pound fullback. They did however give up 116 yards to the mediocre passing attack of Wheaton.

In order for Blair to be successful they must pound the football like they have done in the past. They must use Junior Felix Ruiz who has had two one hundred-yard games this season, and senior Alfonso Angus as their work horses.

The Blazers must be sure not to let the Eagles jump out too far ahead and throw the Blazers off their gameplan. The defense led by junior middle linebacker Nino Tran must continue to play hard-nosed, knee-buckling defense in order to keep the Blazers in the game. If the defense gives up too many points, Blair could be forced to go to the air and play catch up. Senior quarterback James McCrae is 1- 4 passing on the season. He has had one interception, and one completion to junior tight end Max Pollock for eight yards against Einstein.

So the key for the Blazers to find success they must stay on top. If they fall behind then they will be forced to scrap their gameplan and pass. Rushing and Ruiz = success, McCrae's arm and passing game = yet to be proven.

Cal's Prediction: Blazers win by field goal.
