Ira Shapiro to speak at Blair

Eighth district congressional candidate for the eighth district Ira Shapiro is coming to speak at Blair.

Shapiro will speak on Tuesday March 12th in room 164 at 3:00. He is the third speaker sponsored by the Student Democrats Association in their series of democrats running in the eight district. Shapiro is running against Mark Kennedy Shriver and Christopher Van Hollen for the Democratic party nomination.

According to Shapiro's campaign website he was born in New York and over the years has worked for numerous senators and presidential campaigns. He was an advisor for the Mondale campaign in 1984 and for the Clinton campaign in 1992. From 1995-1997 he was the chief trade negotiator with Japan and Canada and was confirmed as an ambassador by the Senate.
