Silver Chips places second in the Maryland Scholastic Press Association contest

Churchill Observer Receives Marylander Award


The Maryland Scholastic Press Association (MSPA) awarded Silver Chips second place in the 2003 Publications Contest with an accumulative score of 95 points. Blair's literary magazine, Silver Quill also placed fourth in its division, with a score of 93 points.

MSPA named The Churchill Observer the Marylander Award Winner for accumulating a total of 96 points. The Sherwood Warrior took a close third to Silver Chips, earning 94 points, and the Glen Burnie Big Red and the Springbrook Blueprint tied for fourth place, both with accumulative scores of 90 points.

Richard Montgomery's Fine Lines received the Marylander Award for literary magazine, followed by the Annapolis Senior High literary magazine Perceptions.

The Maryland Scholastic Press Association awards Maryland schools for excellence in newspaper, literary magazine, and yearbook publications. Three of the four winners in the First-Place Category were Montgomery County schools; Montgomery County schools also accumulated the top three scores.
