Silver Chips has been selected as the winner of Seventeen Magazine's first annual high school newspaper contest. The paper will be recognized in an upcoming issue.
According to an email from Seventeen's representative Sara Shandler, the paper was chosen after fierce competition because of its "excellent selection of news-worthy stories and fine writing" as well as its "use of images that complimented rather than distracted from the content." Seventeen was also impressed by the paper's "clean-looking layout." Shandler wrote that Silver Chips should feel very proud of their work. "Your dedication, time and energy are abundantly clear. All of us here at Seventeen are extremely impressed."
Silver Chips sponsor, John Mathwin, is "proud" to have the paper's hard work be honored by a nationally recognized magazine.
