Juniors and sophomores switch places in pep rally

Juniors and sophomores switched their usual positions for Friday's pep rally.

Traditionally, the freshmen and sophomores sit on one side of the gym during a pep rally and the upper classmen sit on the other side. The juniors and sophomores were switched to try to increase order in the gym by reducing crowding.

Because the freshman and sophomore classes are so much larger than the juniors and seniors, the switch was intended to distribute students more evenly. "It's simple crowd control," said SGA member Brandon Hayes.

Many juniors considered the switch unfair. The performers in the middle of the gym usually face the seniors, so now sophomores will have a better view than juniors. Some of the performers split into two groups, one facing each side, to diminish the problem.

According to Hayes, administrators handed down the decision to the SGA. "It definitely is unfair," he said. "But that's how Mr. Gainous wants it."
