NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMANISUM, Jan. 3 —

The junior varsity boys' basketball team continued its home court dominance with a 64-56 win over the Walt Whitman Vikings.

Despite trailing Whitman by one point at the conclusion of the first quarter, Blair took control of the court to lead for the remainder of the game . At the half, the Blazers led by seven points, and the Vikings trailed by 17 at the start of the fourth quarter.

On a night when the shots weren't falling early for the Blazers, coach Emanuel Charles turned to the defense for a spark. "I pride myself on (the team) playing good defense," said Charles. "That's how we score, our defense is our thing."

Whitman cut the lead to eight points in the fourth quarter, but freshman Erik Gilbert and sophomore Milton Colquehon came through with clutch shots.

The JV team, now 4-2 for the season, faces Sherwood this Friday at 5:15 p.m.
