Plans laid out for the future
Dear Blazers,
The SGA is excited to begin the fall by renewing our commitment to community outreach. Last week, we held the first of two blood drives planned for this year, and we thank all the students and staff who gave blood. The event was a great success, and the SGA is proud to have been a part of it.
Our themes for this fall are community and charity. Recently, we have been acting on these principles through works in the Blair community. Together with the Math Department, we have been buying freshmen calculators, a project that has been very successful, and will continue throughout the month of October. We are also working with an outside organization to tutor students at Eastern Middle School, and we plan on expanding that program to other area middle and elementary schools.
November will begin many community service projects to help the less fortunate celebrate the holiday season. During November, the SGA will hold our annual Canned Food Drive for a local homeless shelter's Thanksgiving dinner. We also plan to adopt a family at Children's Hospital.
We encourage all Blazers to participate in these events. To get involved, visit the SGA office, Room 161, during lunch, or ask your class Senate representatives about opportunities to serve the Blair community.
Sincerely,
Sebastian Johnson
SGA President
