Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) have been holding meetings concerning outside athletics in light of the recent sniper shootings.

The last meeting was on Monday, October 21, and so the most recent shooting was not taken under consideration. According to the head of Takoma Park Neighborhood Soccer, Howard Kohn, who attends the meetings, there is "a lot of division."

Kohn said that the meetings consist mostly of the athletic directors or their representatives, the principals or their representatives, and representatives from MCPS. The plan as of last night was to find safe fields in Montgomery County, Frederick County, or Howard County.

The participants were hoping to hold football games this weekend and other activities Tuesday but the problem is that there are a lot of conflicts at these meetings. "You cannot find three people who agree, " Kohn said.

The county is hoping to find an answer soon, but Kohn said it is a difficult decision. "If there was some magical solution, we would all grab onto it," said Kohn.
