The conflict in Iraq is one of the most controversial issues facing the American public right now, and yet many Americans are unsure of the precise history and nature of the dispute. One easy way for students—and all Americans—to better comprehend the conflict is through the entertainment industry, notably films and television.

To help our community achieve a wider understanding of the situation in Iraq, Silver Chips has compiled a list of several documentaries and a feature film that address the conflict in Iraq and its surrounding areas.

Some documentaries on Iraq are:

The Long Road to War (released in 2003), a Frontline production studying the twelve years of conflict between Iraq and the U.S.

Between Iraq and a Hard Place (2003), which takes a slightly satirical outlook on the war on terror.

Paying the Price: Killing the Children of Iraq (2000), which tries to present an Iraqi perspective on the Saddam regime.

Churches in Iraq (1988), directed and written by Khairiya A-Mansour

A feature film studying America's conflict with the Middle East is:

Three Kings (1999), which studies the aftermath of the Persian Gulf War
