Oct. 30 - Allegations of sexual harassment made in the 1990s from two National Restaurant Association employees arose against Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on Oct. 30. Cain has admitted that the accusations were made but claimed that he was falsely accused. The restaurant association paid a settlement to both accusers, which further sparked suspicion over Cain's claims of innocence. The employees have asked to have a nondisclosure agreement lifted so that can tell their views of the events.

Northeast U.S.
Oct. 29 - An early snowfall on Oct. 29 caused major power outages for the Northeast U.S. More than three million homes lost power on Saturday. As of Tuesday approximately one million are still without power. Thirteen people have died as a result of the storm. The majority of the damage was caused by a large amount of wet snow that snapped tree limbs due to the leaves still being on the trees. Estimates call for power outages to continue until Thursday.

Oakland, California
Oct. 25 - "Occupy Wall Street" protests in Oakland, California escalated on Oct. 25 when police used tear gas and other enforcement methods. Two-time Iraq War veteran Scott Olsen became a rallying cry for the movement when he was severely injured by the police. Olsen and many other protesters were marching back to an encampment that the police had ordered the protesters to clear. The Oakland police department claimed that their actions were justified, but many protesters claim that this was an example of police brutality. Similar protests have continued across the country.
